Driving towards a cleaner future

In 2023, the International Energy Agency reported that there was one charger for every 35 EVs in Australia. In 2024, their report showed that there is now only one charger for every 68 EVs. These findings show that Australians are making more energy-conscious choices when it comes to vehicle ownership and it highlights the increasing urgency for more charging infrastructure.

The CSIRO has also forecast that 38,000 kerbside EV charging ports will be needed throughout NSW, by 2030.

As an environmentally conscious energy company, we are advocating to have more EVs on the road sooner. Our aim is to accelerate the number of people switching from traditional internal combustion engine vehicles to an EV, which will support emissions reduction and reduce costs to households.

Improving your charging options

While more EVs on the road means cheaper second-hand vehicles on the market, it also means a higher demand for all types of public charging. Unfortunately, a lack of accessible public kerbside charging is a key reason as to why more people aren't making the switch to an EV.

To help improve the way people in Western Sydney use and charge their electric vehicles, we're installing 47 new pole-mounted kerbside chargers across The Hills, Parramatta and Blacktown regions. Not only are we installing more public kerbside EV charging stations, but the new charging stations will allow customers to choose their preferred energy retailer/charge point operator.

Utilising the 7-22kw pole-mounted charging meters, EV motorists could take advantage of energy rates similar to those at home, potentially saving up to 20c per kW/hr every time you charge your car.
